SPACES OF IRONIC SEVERITY
Andrea Auletta Interiors has ventured into this London space in "absence of gravity" upon request of a Client who conceived the space of this office as a corporate space and a management venue for financial and wealth operations, not as a place that has to do with design logics. For a curious and versatile interior designer, passionate as Andrea Auletta, this represents a true challenge. In this metaphysical space, Andrea Auletta plays with forms and spaces, within pure abstractions and balances. The Silva International offices based in London have been designed with solemn mineral materials starting from the reception where a desk with essential forms faces the equally essential but soft forms of the seats in the waiting room. Black and white tones remain sober as the company’s logo. Corridors leading to the offices are bright and play dialectically with curves and straight lines of the glass surface frame. The meeting room suggests power and dominion or perhaps just know-how and control and it is enlightened by imposing hanging lights designed to convey light together with a feeling of clearness. The other meeting rooms are smaller and compact in the structure suggesting intimacy and secrecy always dominated by the cone of light. The outside world is like a distant reality that should not disturb the Financial activities. The technical equipment related to heating and lighting system of the rooms is hidden, and this creates a space to work quietly.
