Our design way is an imaginative creation path that starts on the human need idea and follows our instinctive/innovative product conception from the market study to the creation and enjoyment philosophy up to the user and his/her interaction, putting all the attention to be aesthetically honest timeless following evocating emotions.
Based in Valencia (Spain), Santiago Sevillano Studio is a multidisciplinary team of professionals under the direction of Santiago Sevillano, where every project is executed as a result of a real team effort.
The main product categories where the Studio operates are:
* Furniture design (chairs, sofas, tables for both indoor and outdoor furniture)
* Lighting and technical design
* Product design for the Art of the Table, porcelain, cutlery sets and more
* Brand design direction (from concept to graphic and brand design management - with the creation of catalogues, packaging, photography direction, logos, multimedia, shops, showrooms and stands).
Santiago Sevillano comes from a family specializing in the production of artisan-upholstered furniture and his approach to design focuses on the project and development of products.
In his background there are both a technical engineering path and a sensitive view developed by his architectural training; the result is a working method open to solutions able to combine creativity and product industrialization, with sensitivity and detail emphasis. Each year, Santiago Sevillano Studio participates in several fairs, lectures and events worldwide: from Maison & Objet to Orgatec, from Ambiente to Salone del Mobile.Milano from Valencia to Hong Kong. The three ’S’ philosophy
Santiago Sevillano does not define himself as an artist. He creates a frame with an interplay of concepts, ideas and simple but technical everyday solutions. His project-oriented approach is to develop products to solve a problem, achieving a result that can effectively bridge a market gap of human needs.
“We boast experiences in furnishings and lighting marketing - he says – our type of approach leads us to be proactive in each step of development and lifecycle of products. I have studied architecture and engineering and I am an international habitat market specialist as well; thus, I am able to propose 360° solutions with different approaches from the project to engineering up to the final market.”
The basic philosophy of the team can be summed up in three words:
‘Sense’, ‘Solve’ and ‘Succeed’ – with the basic idea laying in the ability to focus on the proposal of products that become, through design, something capable of solving a specific need.
“First of all – explains Sevillano – we need to understand the problem and to focus on the product, since designing a product means to solve a problem. When you manufacture a chair in your firm, you need a tool. Design is the tool.
When you have a problem, you ask for a professional consulting; when a company needs to manufacture a chair, they ask for a designer, who knows how to do it.
This is the first step and we call it ‘Sense’. Next step is ‘Solve’, meaning to solve the problem about the product and from here you reach the third step ‘Success’, that is the positive outcome.Each of these three ‘S’ results from the others and they become reality inside the productive site. This is no kind of artistic process; although I fully understand the ‘artistic’ point of view, but our approach is quite different.
Our approach is more about focusing on the market dynamics, on consumers’ attitudes, on opportunities offered by retail, through a continuous dialogue among strong materials, more ecological production processes and distribution system. This is a quite different type of perspective”.
